Fall into Autumn topic #4

How about you? Are there any recipes you especially enjoy having in the Fall? Any foods that are seasonal that you especially enjoy? I love pumpkin pie but I do not make from scratch. I like a big bowl of homemade vegetable beef soup.

My Homemade Vegetable Beef Soup Serves a jillion

1 lb. beef (I buy sirloin and cut into small cubes)
1 large can tomatoes (28 oz?)
1 large potato diced
2 carrots sliced
1 medium onion chopped
2 stalks celery diced
1 head cabbage chopped
1 can green peas
1 can green beans
1 can corn
In large stock pot (mine is about 15 inches high) add a little oil and heat. Add the beef and brown. Add the tomatoes, breaking them up and 2 cups of water. Simmer for an hour. Prepare all the fresh veggies in this time. Add to pot and cover with water and let simmer for 3-4 hours.
Add the different cans of veggies and season to taste. Cook for about 30 more minutes. This makes an enormous pot of soup, but freezes well.

Sounds delicious-I printed it out, it's a bit different than my recipe. My kids get so sick of soup by the time spring comes, but nothing smells better than soup in the winter.
Thanks for the offer of needles- that's very sweet, but I came to my senses after my blog and decided I don't want to do socks after all! =) And I was enabled into the Knit picks options-the Harmony wood ones. =)
